AdOpt Summer Newsletter
There now exists in England a generation of accredited AdOpt Facilitators who are extremely skilled and competent in running groups for adoptive parents. Many of them are suitable to take the next step to becoming Licensed Trainers in the model.
The NIS has recently been working with 3 Regional Adoption Agencies (RAAs) that already have accredited AdOpt Facilitators in their area. The aim is to build upon the experience and expertise that already exists within the sector. Please contact Linda Yool in the NIS if you want to know more about becoming a Licensed Trainer.
INDEPENDENT EVALUATION OF AdOpt
Thank you to all of the AdOpt sites that helped Professor Gordon Harold and his colleagues complete the evaluation of the Adopt programme last year. Please click here for more information.
Some of the key findings include – positive effects on child outcomes, specifically child conduct problems; improvements in specific parenting practices with parents reporting increased self-efficacy and satisfaction. Qualitative interviews with group members consistently showed that they found the course content, method of delivery and group support to be highly relevant and beneficial.
